James O’Connell

Prior to forming Carlsen O’Connell, James worked as an Associate at Avison Young Commercial Real Estate and closed over one hundred lease and sale transactions. He established a reputation for being detail oriented and analytical, but always game for a round of golf with clients. James thrives on closing complicated or technical transactions which thrill the clients that need him most. His passion for working with local business owners instead of out of town corporations inspired the firm’s grass roots focus. James’s banking background includes five years at Deutsche Bank where he facilitated the creation of mortgage-backed securities for clients including Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Credit Suisse. In his free time, he explores new breweries and restaurants, roots for the San Francisco Giants, and routinely beats Dave at golf (admittedly a low bar). James enjoys getting outdoors to snowboard, backpack, hike, and fish with his brothers.
